This is a water tank is in an old industrial section of Berkley, California. This area still has the railroad tracks that used to deliver the raw materials to places like the iron works building and the sheet metal factory. Cee’s Fun Photo Challenge of two weeks ago inspired me to Point My Camera Upwards.

Leading Lines
I have, perhaps, a slightly different take on Cee’s Vanishing or Leading Lines Challenge. Rather than choose a path leading somewhere or a line of trees vanishing off into the distance, I chose lines in construction, buildings, cranes, and bridges. All of these lines lead somewhere. Maybe they lead to the next floor, the next wall, the next support column, or to the end of a machine, but all are necessary to live in our world. And serendipitously, the last photo I chose for the challenge happened to include a Brown Pelican who had his own leading lines. No, they weren’t, “What in the world is that construction crane doing behind me?” They were the leading edges (lines) of his wings.

My Feet and My Four Year Old Granddaughter’s Flip-Flops

My granddaughter thinks her flip flops are the height of fashion because they are PINK (her favorite color), and they have stars.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Trees

I was standing in the shade, encouraging the dogs to do their business, when I looked up and noticed that the branches of two trees, in full summer leaf, made a lovely frame for a photo.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Animals
My animals are a little different because I live across the street from a lake. And because I’ve already posted pictures of the dogs. So here it is – Canada geese! I was so excited when we moved here that I would finally be able to see a Canada Goose.
Let’s just say that my excitement has waned a little. Since Lake Merritt has been a wildlife refuge since 1870, and was, in fact, the United States’ first official wildlife refuge, the Canada geese have been stopping here twice a year on their annual migrations. However, some decades ago (no one seems to know exactly when), the geese decided that the small temperature fluctuation here in Oakland meant that Lake Merritt would make a great home year round. So…… they stayed. And thrived. And mutiplied since they have no natural enemies here. So they have become something akin to pests. However, they are still beautiful, and I still enjoy them. I’m just not so fond of the bird poop they leave all over. In quantities.
Nonetheless, here they are.

Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge: Close up of Flowers

Notice the small visiting bug on the left side of the right hand flower. I only had my phone, so I could’t get a macro shot, but you can see him if you look. 🙂
