Very pretty. The advice here about wearing masks is so conflicting that every time I think I have a handle on it, some other expert says something different. Sigh.
I am not a doctor or a public health expert, but this is how I understand it: The only mask that can *prevent* you from contacting COVID 19 is an N95 mask, with or without a ventilator. A surgical mask is helpful, but not as foolproof. To be the most effective, a N95 mask should be fitted – that is, a women who weighs 100 pounds takes a smaller sized mask than a 6’4″ man. Then there are the general flat paper masks that clinics hand out if you arrive ill in normal times, or cloth masks like I have. Neither of theses really prevent you from contacting COVID 19, but they help in preventing *you* from spreading that virus, or any other virus, to *other* people. Thus if you are in an environment with other people (a store, for instance), and everyone is wearing a cloth or paper mask, the likelihood of someone with COVID 19 spreading the virus *to* you is greatly reduced. A cloth or paper mask reduces, but does not eliminate the spread of viral particles outward from a person’s nose and mouth, however, so social distancing of at least 6 feet should still be maintained. Let me reiterate that I am not an expert, but that this is my understanding. Hope it helps.
Did you make the masks yourself Hannah? They look so good 🙂
I wish I could say yes. I gave away my sewing machine when I moved into a small apartment, so I purchased these.
They were a good buy. It’s a pity you no longer sew
I’m in a slightly larger apartment now. I’ve occasionally thought about buying a new, basic machine. I used to sew a lot!
Do it. I have no idea but most of the women in my life all sew
Thank you – I’m now encouraged to do it 🙂
There are a lot of tiny machines available now-a-days that do a somewhat good job as long as you don’t want to sew leather 😀 😀
Yes. You can get one for about $100. 😀
Your new fashion accessories look wonderful, Hannah! Love the colours and patterns. I made a couple of these too, for me and my mum with whom I’m staying over the lockdown. We have two sewing machines! Wish I could give you one! 😄
How are you and your mum doing? Both healthy I hope.
We are both fine, Hannah, thank you for asking! I decided to move in with her when this all started, so we’re in this together. 😀 Hope all is well with you too? Stay well!
